About the Pajama Cardinalfish

The Pajama Cardinalfish (Sphaeramia nematoptera) lives in the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific and prefers to hide among branching corals or sea urchin spines. It owes its unusual name to its striking pattern of green dots, black horizontal stripes, and a reddish rear section, which resembles colorful pajamas. As a nocturnal hunter, it feeds primarily on small crustaceans and zooplankton.
