About the Jeweled Flag Cichlid

The Jewel-spotted cichlid (Pseudanthias squamipinnis) lives in the coral reefs of the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the western Pacific Ocean. It often forms large, colorful schools above the reefs and feeds mainly on zooplankton. A striking feature is the pronounced sexual dimorphism: Males are bright orange to reddish in color and have elongated fin rays, while females are smaller and predominantly yellow-orange in color.
