About the Walrus

The Walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) lives in the Arctic coastal waters and on the sea ice of the Northern Hemisphere. Its long tusks and distinctive whiskers make it unmistakable. Among other things, walruses use their tusks to pull themselves out of the water onto the ice. They feed primarily on clams and other marine invertebrates, which they track down on the seafloor.
