About the Young Emperor Angelfish

The young Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) lives in the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Unlike adult specimens, it has a deep blue background pattern with striking white and light blue concentric circles. Only as it ages does this pattern develop into the characteristic yellow-and-blue markings of the adult Emperor Angelfish. This impressive color change is one of the most spectacular transformations among reef fish.
