About the Cowfish
The cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) lives in the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is characterized by its long, horn-like projections above the eyes, which resemble a cow’s horns and have given it its name. Its angular body, protected by bony plates, offers additional protection against predators. When threatened, the cowboxfish can secrete a toxic substance from its skin to deter attackers.
