About the Hermit Crab

The hermit crab (Paguroidea) lives in oceans all over the world. Unlike true crabs, it has a soft abdomen, which it hides inside empty snail shells for protection. As it grows, it regularly seeks out a larger shell. It uses its claws to defend its mobile home and is one of the best-known inhabitants of coastlines and coral reefs.
