About the Atlantic Swamp Turtle

The Atlantic terrapin (Lepidochelys kempii), also known as Kemp’s loggerhead , lives in the Gulf of Mexico and the western Atlantic. It is the smallest sea turtle species and, at the same time, the most endangered. It is famous for its synchronized mass nesting events, known as arribadas, during which numerous females come ashore at the same time to lay their eggs.
