About the Leatherback Turtle

The leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) is the world’s largest sea turtle and can reach a carapace length of over two meters. Unlike all other sea turtles, it does not have a hard, bony shell, but rather a leathery, flexible skin, from which it gets its name. It travels thousands of kilometers on its extensive migrations and feeds primarily on jellyfish.
