About the Orange-spotted Filefish
The Orange-spotted filefish (Oxymonacanthus longirostris) lives in the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Its slender snout and the bright orange spots on its turquoise-blue body make it unmistakable. It feeds primarily on the polyps of branching stony corals and is therefore closely tied to intact coral reefs. Its extraordinary appearance makes it one of the most popular filefish among divers and underwater photographers.
