About the Potato Grouper
The Potato Grouper (Epinephelus tukula) lives in the coral reefs of the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. It owes its unusual name to the large, irregular dark spots on its light-colored body, which resemble potatoes. A powerful predator, it feeds on fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods. With a length of up to two meters, it is one of the largest inhabitants of tropical coral reefs.
