With 57% vol. this gin full of character would have been allowed to sail even on the ships of the Royal Navy. There, where the gin had to be strong for the sailors. So strong that the gunpowder still burns when gin runs over it. Today 57% vol. makes it the ideal ingredient in cocktails and an expressive partner in gin & tonic.
The 20457 Hafencity Gin Navy Strength with 57% Vol. is based on the same distillate as the classic Hafencity Gin with 41%. Due to the alcohol as a flavor carrier, the flavors are much more intense. This also allows it to assert itself particularly well in gin cocktails, where many flavors meet – such as the Negroni. Despite its 57%, you can still enjoy the Navy Strength surprisingly well pure – it just warms a bit more 😉
As with the 20457 Hafencity Gin 41%, the juniper note is somewhat restrained so that the other botanicals can develop nicely. So from the way it’s made, it’s a real London Dry Gin, but in terms of taste, it’s a New Western Dry Gin.
